Fall 2016 Drama Classes in Calgary, for ages 6-17

This autumn, it’s all about Pirates, saving the world and BELIEVING in yourself at Theatre A Go-Go and we’re proud to present our exciting line up of Drama/Theatre Arts Classes in Calgary. Join us, meet new friends and have fun while improving physical, emotional and verbal literacy!

WHO: Ages 6-9(grades 1-4)

WHAT: ADVENTURES WITH PIRATES with Tanya Lukenoff and guest Artist, TBD – Imagine the wild and wacky world of Pirates where a variety of characters learn what it means to be brave. With a little help and by working together, the friends journey to save the world. In a series of fun-filled drama classes, players will begin with self-development drama activities and with an enriched body, and vocal vocabulary, they will develop their Theatre Arts and communication skills. At the end of the program, players will present, with confidence, an adaptation of the Play, “Peggy the Pint Sized Pirate”. This Celebration of Learning is for friends, family and anyone who would like to see how we play.

WHEN: Sundays, 1:00 – 2:30pm from Oct. 16–Dec.11, 2016 (No class Nov. 13) Registration closes Oct. 14, 2016

INVESTMENT: Discount = $165/player if registered by Sept. 16 OR Regular = $190/player

Investment includes: 8 classes x 1 1/2 hours/class plus 2 hours for dress rehearsal and performance at the end of the program = 14 hours. (Costumes, props and set supplied by Theatre A Go-Go)

 

WHO: Ages 9-12(grades 5-7) - FULL

WHAT: ADVENTURES IN NEVERLAND with Tanya Lukenoff and guest Artist, TBD– Imagine the fantastical world of Neverland inhabited by Mermaids, Fairies, Crocodiles, Lost Children and Pirates where many adventures ensue. Led by Peter Pan, the children band together to save Neverland from a group of mean pirates, led by Captain Hook. In a series of fun-filled drama classes, players will begin with self-development drama activities and with an enriched body, and vocal vocabulary, they will develop their Theatre Arts and communication skills. At the end of the program, players will present, with confidence, an adaptation of J. M. Barrie's most famous play, “Peter Pan”. This Celebration of Learning is for friends, family and anyone who would like to see how we play.

WHEN: Sundays, 2:45 – 5:15pm from Oct. 16–Dec.11, 2016 (No class Nov. 13) Registration closes Oct. 14, 2016

INVESTMENT: Discount = $225/player if registered by Sept. 16 OR Regular = $250/player

Investment includes: 8 classes x 2 1/2 hours/class plus 2 hours for dress rehearsal and performance at the end of the program = 22 hours. (Costumes, props and set supplied by Theatre A Go-Go)

 

WHO: Ages 13-17(grades 8-11)

WHAT: SLAPSTICK COMEDY with Tanya Lukenoff and guest Artist, TBD -Imagine the turn of the century where vaudeville and slapstick humour are the most popular forms of variety entertainment. In a series of fun-filled drama classes, players will learn about the history and characters that have been part of creating our culture for hundreds of years. Players will begin with self-development drama activities and with an enriched body, and vocal vocabulary, will explore the strategies and techniques that actors use for creating slapstick Comedy such as: the trip, juggling and magic. Players will create their own comedy characters and scenario and develop their Theatre Arts and communication skills. At the end of the program players will present, with confidence, their own characters and comedy scenes, for friends and family.

WHEN: Wednesdays, 6:00 – 8:00pm from Oct. 19–Dec. 7, 2016 Registration closes Oct. 14, 2016

INVESTMENT: Discount = $200/player if registered by Sept. 16 OR Regular = $225/player

Investment includes: 8 classes x 2 hours/class plus 2 hour for dress rehearsal and performance at the end of the program = 18 hours. (Costumes, props and set supplied by Theatre A Go-Go)

 

WHERE: All classes and Celebration Performances take place in the Parkdale Community Centre (3512 5 Ave. N.W.).
