 Winter Acting Classes in Calgary for Youth/Teens Ages 12-17

 New start date for Drama Classes and in order to fill the few remaining spots in our Drama/Acting Classes, if you register by Jan. 12@ 6:00pm with a friend or family member, each registration will be $240.00. See Community Discount on Registration form.

 Imagine your loved one(s) expressing themselves with greater confidence in physical, emotional and verbal literacy! Theatre A Go-Go offers the tools for an individual to build their own community of active participants through Drama/Theatre Arts Classes. Join us, meet new friends and have fun while gaining confidence.

WHO: Ages 12-17 (Grades 7-12)

WHAT: ADVENTURES WITH FOLKTALES - Imagine the world as it is explained through a Folktale. In a series of fun-filled drama classes, players will begin with self-development drama activities in order to expand their vocal and body expressive tools. With this enriched self-awareness and in groups, they will then advance their teamwork skills by reading various Folktales from around the world and choosing one bring to life. Players will then develop their communication skills through Improvisation, storytelling, Theatre Stagecraft or Dance, and Performing Arts techniques. On the last day of classes, players will share with confidence, by presenting their Folktale and this Celebration of Learning is for friends, family and anyone who would like to see how we play.

WHEN: Sundays, 2:45-5:45pm from Jan. 14-Mar. 18, 2018 (no class Jan. 28 & Feb. 18)

INVESTMENT: Discount= $240/player, if registered with a friend or family member by Jan. 12

Regular = $270/player

Investment includes: 8 classes x 3 hours/class plus 3 hours for dress rehearsal and performance at the end of the program = 27 hours. (Stagecraft supplies, Costumes, Props and Set supplied by Theatre A Go-Go)

WHO: Ages 12-17(Grades 7-12)

WHAT: SHAKESPEARE, SWORDS AND GORE MAKEUP - Imagine the theatrical world of William Shakespeare the English poet, playwright and actor and the special effects that supported his richly clad words. In a series of fun-filled acting classes, players will begin with self-development drama activities in order to expand their vocal and body expressive tools. With this enriched self-awareness and in groups, they will then advance their teamwork skills by reading various famous fight scenes and choosing one bring to life. Players will then develop their communication skills through Sword play, storytelling, Theatre Gore Makeup, and Performing Arts techniques. Safety and control will be the main focus with these workshops and players will be taught proper stage fighting skills. On the last day of classes, players will share with confidence, by presenting their Shakespeare scenes and this Celebration of Learning is for friends, family and anyone who would like to see how we play.

WHEN: Mondays: 5:30-8:30pm from Jan. 15-Mar.19, 2018 (no class Feb. 19)

INVESTMENT: Discount= $240/player, if registered with a friend or family member by Jan. 12

Regular = $275/player

Investment includes: Makeup supplies and 9 classes x 3 hours/class plus 1 hour for dress rehearsal and performance at the end of the program = 28 hours. (Swords, Costumes, Props and Set supplied by Theatre A Go-Go)

WHO: Ages 12-17(Grades 7-12)

WHAT: SLAPSTICK COMEDY - Imagine the turn of the century where vaudeville and slapstick humour are the most popular forms of variety entertainment. In a series of fun-filled acting classes, players will learn about the history and Comedy characters that have been part of creating our culture for hundreds of years. Players will begin with self-development drama activities enriching their body, and vocal vocabulary. They will explore the strategies and techniques that actors use for creating slapstick Comedy such as: the Trip, the Stuck, Juggling, and Magic. Players will create their own comedy character, a scenario with a partner, and develop their Theatre Arts and communication skills. At the end of the program players will present, with confidence, their own characters and comedy scenes, for friends, family and anyone that would like to see how we play.

WHEN: Tuesdays: 5:30-8:15pm from Jan. 16-Mar. 20, 2018 or Wednesdays: 5:30-8:15pm from Jan. 17-Mar. 21, 2018

INVESTMENT: Discount= $240/player, if registered with a friend or family member by Jan. 12

Regular = $280/player

Investment includes: 10 classes x 2.75 hours/class plus 1.5 hour for dress rehearsal and performance at the end of the program = 29 hours. (Costumes, Props and Set supplied by Theatre A Go-Go)
