Fall Acting Classes in Calgary for Youth and Teens ages 13-17
In these uncertain times, there is one thing that we are certain of and that is the importance of safety for all. As we all adapt to the new reality, we have created a 2020 COVID -19 Protocols & Policies document. This document was developed in conjunction with the requirements for Businesses as provided by Alberta Health Services (AHS). Parents will be required to submit a signed copy to Theatre A Go-Go after registration. Our goal is to mitigate the risk of transmission and ensure that our relaunch is sustainable.
The word autumn comes from the ancient Etruscan root autu- and has within it connotations of the passing of the year. Autumn marks a transition in seasons where many people turn inward, both physically and mentally. Since it is the season of the primary harvest, what better way to celebrate the autumn than to harvest the bounty of riches within?
Theatre A Go-Go offers the tools for active participants to express themselves with confidence and celebrate their bounty of riches! As we transition in to this period of fruition, register your loved one(s) for Acting Classes and be refreshed as they have fun while gaining confidence in physical, emotional and verbal literacy!
This fall, it’s all about believing in yourself, celebrating the bounty of riches within, and the world of the Commedia dell’Arte. Whether your loved one/s want to expand their expressive powers, or explore the Theatrical world of Improvisation, we have the Acting Classes to suit your fancy!
Transition into fall with Theatre A Go-Go’s Acting Classes; where the Early Birds get the discount! Early Bird discount ends on Monday Sept. 14 @ 6:00pm, save $$ by registering today.
THURSDAY EVENING ACTING CLASSES
WHO: Ages 13-17
WHAT: THE ART OF THE COMMEDIA DELL’ARTE - Imagine the market places of Italy in the 1520’s where Zanni characters wearing half masks improvised and dominated European Theatre. The Commedia dell’Arte has been and always will be the first of the arts of the theatre. Nowadays we draw from its history to maintain its presence in modern Physical Theatre and Improvisation. Players will explore the basic techniques actors use in creating Commedia dell’ Arte: Improvisation, Slapstick Comedy, status, and Masked Characterization. Discover the walks, gestures and voices of 6 of the stock characters. Expressing one of the characters and using a plot outline, players will improvise a Scenario with a partner. Discover why Commedia dell’Arte is one of the most important sources of storytelling, Comedy and Physical Theatre styles. Understand why physical humour is such an important tool for communication, for either on or offstage. On the last day of Classes, players will present their Commedia Scenario for friends, family and anyone who would like to see how we play.
