Spring Acting Classes for ages 13-17

Spring Acting/Theatre Arts Classes in Calgary for Teens ages 13-17

Salutations Drama Queens, Kings and Royal Families,

At Theatre A Go-Go, we cultivate and nurture that personal connection through face to face contact to develop friendships and improve knowledge through communicating and sharing.

Based on the winter shut downs, we are taking a brief Intermission with our Drama/Acting classes and Camps until we are able to safely meet in person once again.

We are optimistic and hopeful to commence with ACT 3 and our in-person programs this coming spring. We are excited to once again, provide the setting for renewal where your loved one/s can meet new friends and have fun while gaining confidence in physical, emotional and verbal literacy.

In the meantime, we encourage you to imagine, explore, express and play safe in the face of adversity.
Take care of yourselves and each other.
Artistically yours,
Tanya

All Camp information will be determined by Mar. 1 when registration opens. Please check back with us and stay connected by joining our email list HERE where we will continue to monitor the situation and communicate any changes that may impact Programs.

WHAT: THE ART OF THE COMMEDIA DELL’ARTE - Imagine the market places of Italy in the 1520’s where Zanni characters wearing half masks improvised and dominated European Theatre. The Commedia dell’Arte has been and always will be the first of the arts of the theatre. Nowadays we draw from its history to maintain its presence in modern Physical Theatre and Improvisation. Players will explore the basic techniques actors use in creating Commedia dell’ Arte: Improvisation, Slapstick Comedy, status, and Masked Characterization. Discover the walks, gestures and voices of 6 of the stock characters. Expressing one of the characters and using a plot outline, players will improvise a Scenario with a partner. Discover why Commedia dell’Arte is one of the most important sources of storytelling, Comedy and Physical Theatre styles. Understand why physical humour is such an important tool for communication, for either on or offstage. On the last day of Classes, players will present their Commedia Scenario for friends, family and anyone who would like to see how we play.
