Tanya Lukenoff – Actor, Entertainer, Performer

BACKGROUND

SALUTATIONS!My name is Tanya Lukenoff and I am a performer, instructor, writer, director and the Artistic Director of Theatre A Go-Go.

I have performed in Theatre, Film and Television for over twenty years, at Festivals, theatres and schools around Alberta, Toronto and London, England.

I founded Theatre A Go-Go in 1987, in Toronto, as a performance based Physical Theatre Company that uses the styles and techniques of Physical Theatre to create its work.

I then returned back to Calgary, to perform for the Olympic Arts Council at various Olympic venues. In an attempt to locate rehearsal space, I created Studio A Go-Go.

Studio A Go-Go was a multi media arts facility that housed 4 different studios and live music Thur. - Sat. evenings. Owned by the City of Calgary, paradise was paved to accommodate a parking lot.

With the assistance from The Alberta Foundation for the Arts and The Canada Council, I then began my international training which took me around Europe to learn from masters in Classical European Theatre styles such as; Mask Making, Clown, Bouffon, Melodrama, Shakespeare and Commedia dell Arte.

I began instructing acting classes in 1991 and have since taught for various organizations such as; The Alberta Fine Arts Council, Theatre Calgary, The University of Calgary, Mount Royal University, various Out of School Programs and The Calgary Down Syndrome Association. I discovered Learning through the Arts in 1996, and have since completed many projects, with many schools, integrating Drama and Mask Making into the curriculum.

The educational component of Theatre A Go-Go was established in 2009, to educate in physical literacy through kinesthetic learning. The Theatre School aims to inspire all ages to imagine and explore through Drama games, and to express through Theatre and Performing Arts playing with confidence, for the community.

I continue to collaborate with all ages and organizations to IMAGINE - EXPLORE – EXPRESS – PLAY

Artistically yours, Tanya Lukenoff
