Salutations and all the best for the season from Theatre A Go-Go!

As each season sets the stage for the next; nature is very skilled and accepting of the “what is” and using it to unfold the “what can be.” Winter is the season of introversion and contemplation, as it brings many changes to the world, and provides the setting for renewal.

Theatre A Go-Go offers the tools for active participants to express themselves with confidence through fun Drama and Acting Classes! As we transition in to this season of “What can be”, register your loved one(s) and provide the setting for renewal where they can meet new friends and have fun while gaining confidence in physical, emotional and verbal literacy!

This winter, it’s all about believing in yourself and the whimsical world of Commedia dell’Arte. Whether your loved one/s want to expand their expressive powers, or explore the Theatrical world of the Commedia, we have the Classes to suit your fancy!

WHO: Ages 13-17

WHAT: THE ART OF THE COMMEDIA DELL’ARTE - Imagine the market places of Italy in the 1520’s where Zanni characters wearing half masks improvised and dominated European Theatre. The Commedia dell’Arte has been and always will be the first of the arts of the theatre. Nowadays we draw from its history to maintain its presence in modern Physical Theatre and Improvisation. Now imagine a Greek Fable told through this physical style of Theatre the Commedia dell’Arte. In a series of fun-filled drama classes, players will begin with self-development drama activities in order to expand their vocal and body expressive tools. Players will then learn the basic techniques actors use in creating Commedia dell’ Arte: Improvisation, Slapstick Comedy, status, and Masked Characterization. With a new sense of body and vocal confidence, players will express their character and the style of Theatre by presenting an adaptation of the Greek Fable, “Androcles and the Lion” on the last day of the Program. This Celebration of Learning is for friends, family and anyone who would like to see how we play.
